When buying one of our hedgehogs, please keep in mind the type of care that they need. While they may be small mammalian pets, they are exotic pets, and need a lot of specialized treatment. We want our hedgehogs to go to homes ready to do their own research and provide the best care possible to their new baby hedgies. With that said, please feel free to e-mail any questions to SCSpikesandScales@yahoo.com. We want you to feel confident that a hedgehog is for you BEFORE you buy one!
We do not ship often, but on request we may offer specific dates on which to ship. It is preferred that you come and visit the family and see our hedgehog setup so I know that you know what kinds of things a good set up needs. You will also have the opportunity to see the parents and play with your new baby before finalizing the purchase. When you do recieve your new baby hedgehog, I will send with you a small baggy of the cat food and freeze dried mealworms that I like to feed my hedgehogs. You can slowly change the food they are eating by mixing in more and more of the new food at each feeding.
We have a lifetime warranty against genetic problems such as WHS if you send the proof of autopsy. We will replace your problem hedgehog with another baby of your choice. Once again, shipping charges do not apply. No shipping costs will be refunded for any reason, nor will we be responsible on the shipping cost of the new baby hedgehog in the event that something has happened to the first.
If you want to be put on a waiting list for upcoming litters, please e-mail us. We do not require any down payment to hold hedgehogs before they are born. Instead, once the hedgehogs are weaned and colors showing (around six weeks) a $50 non-refundable deposit will be asked of anyone on the waiting list who is interested in one from the current litter. By the time they are 8 weeks old we require full payment, and they must be picked up within one week or the hoglet goes back up for sale, unless we have already agreed on other pick-up requirements. Other requirements may include situations where you will be out of town or busy that week, but have already set up a specific date with us which you will come for your new hedgehog.
Just because the hedgehogs' colors are beginning to show at around three to four weeks of age, does not mean we guarantee that the colors they are exhibiting at that time will be their permanent colors. sometimes their colors change slightly months after they are born.
